Nuvali

Created through the collaboration between Yulo family and Ayala Land, Nuvali is a 1,840-hectare site in Santa Rosa, Laguna which assures that every human aspect is in balance. Aspects like education, job, technology, and especially economy and environment. Moreover it promotes and emphasizes the dynamic relationship amongst human, nature and modern development(Nuvali site, 2009).

Economy and finance are  very much given focus by the pioneers of Nuvali ergo, a large number of business is located inside it, few of them are Conti’s (a pastry shop and restaurant), the two storey building National Bookstore, Headzone Salon, the well-known for-the-mass 7-eleven and  a bank recognized as the Bank of the Philippine Islands (2009). These establishments undoubtedly gives plenty of opportunities for the people to work and support their living. Another great example of an enterprise which manifests the great improvement of economy and employment in Santa Rosa is the call center agency known as “Convergys”.  It really has a huge aid in preventing unemployment in the city because it provides job fortunes for people who are 17 years old and above. Moreover, Nuvali has on its plan the creation of a “Central Business District” to pump up Santa Rosa’s economy and to turn the city into the next financial district south of Makati.

Despite this, Nuvali is not just centralizing its self on business and education but also it focuses in to promoting the green development. Thus, it aims to conserve the natural beauty of Santa Rosa City and in able to do this, it had created an eco-friendly venue suitable for work, leisure and refreshment. It has its own bike trail, a man made lake, gorgeous sight fulfilling ravines and the much awaited wildlife-bird sanctuary which is situated at the farthest part of the vicinity.

Nuvali’s scenery is composed of green lands and buildings which height ranges from approximately 15 ft. to a high rise of 100 ft. As the lucid beam of the sun hits the vast greenish land situated all over Nuvali, the grasses shines and gives out a view which is very appealing to the naked eye. The cool breeze which grazes unto the skin of the people visiting the vicinity simply makes them shiver a little but brings forth a wide smile on their faces as they continue to walk and have some chit-chats with their buddies or companions. At the middle, a broad man-made lake can be seen and I believe this is the main asset of the place. Surrounded by water plants and colorful school of coy fish, the lake becomes the place where people gather to witness  the extravagant beauty of the lake itself and to feed some of the fish. As the moon gradually replaces the sun, the beauty of Nuvali is emphasized more. Its captivating view is projected, not only by the lake and the green field, but together with the glimmering lights coming from the tall standing buildings beside the lake.

The bird and wildlife sanctuary is another asset of  Nuvali which demonstrates the conservation of Santa Rosa’s nature in the midst of modern living. The bike trails leading to the 17 kilometer zoo-like place and aviary have gazebos (footrails too) on the side for site viewing and for bird watching. In line with this conservation goal, Nuvali invites and encourages people, schools and even organizations to join and conduct their tree planting activities which is being done within the mentioned place (2009). Through Haribon’s Biological survey of NUVALI conducted last November 19-22 and December 4-6, 2008, A total of 76 faunal species composed of 62 bird species, 7 mammal species, 7 herpetofaunas and 55 species of flora were recorded. Moreover, thirteen species or 17% of vertebrate fauna (10 birds, 1 mammal and 2 lizards) are endemic including 2 restricted-range species or island endemics restricted to Luzon faunal region. A total of 36 indigenous with 10 endemic floral species to the Philippines were also recorded (2009).

Evidently, Nuvali is about to make Santa Rosa a city acknowledged for the progressive modern life yet nature-friendly living it offers for the Filipino society. Buildings and elegant subdivisions or villages may be existing on Nuvali but, still, it has and perhaps, will always have the passion and initiative to avoid risking Santa Rosa’s natural appearance.
